The Easter Bunny's got nothing on these Kids

Greetings and Salutations to all!

I know it was a few weeks back but, I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend celebrating the resurrection of our savior! It was a busy yet fantastic weekend here at SFCV with many joys and smiles!

Our staff decided to take a different route to the resurrection celebration this year. Normally we all head to the city for Easter Sunday service and an nice afternoon lunch; however, this year, we all headed up north out of the city to the Great Wall, then later to the very center of our city, the Forbidden City! What better way to celebrate Christ than spending the day in his marvelous creation! Honestly, I've been the Great Wall 5 times now, and I have to say this Easter was the most beautiful day EVER on the wall! The sky was clear, the sun was warm and the wall wasn't crowded (all of these things are pretty rare)! It was a gorgeous day, with great friends, celebrating our salvation! I know I say this a lot, but I am so utterly grateful for all that Christ has done to save my life and get me here to SFCV. I'm honored to give of my time and skills to help these precious kids, I mean after all, Jesus gave the ultimate sacrifice with His life, just so I can be here. It's amazing! I'm honored that He saved me all those years ago! Happy Easter!

Easter Monday, was quite the colorful day...if you know what I mean?! A few guest came and joined our staff as we all gathered in the School to help and assist the children as they colored Easter eggs. Oh.MY. WORD! You guys!! Our kids are so flipping adorable and talented! I saw more passion and creativeness poured into decorating those 400 eggs than I've seen in several art museums! They did a fabulous job! Just take a look!

The following morning, all the children gathered for our annual SFCV Easter Egg hunt! The search was on, over 400 Eggs hidden on our campus longing to be found. The hunt was awesome! I saw so many of our kids who had found lots of eggs, help those who had found only 1 or 2, the older ones helping the younger, the ones that could walk assisting those who couldn't...it was truly heartwarming! My heart was deeply touched by the love, servant hood and passion that all of our staff & guests showed in order to put on this fun event for our kids. Guys, I work with some amazing and selfless people! I'm so blessed by each of them. And our kids....I mean they were just adorable! It was a great day celebrating what Christ did for all of us at Calvary and his triumphant rise from the grave!
Just take a look at all the photos....

Ni hao from Shepherd's Field Children's Village!!

Ni Hao from Shepherd's Field Children's Village!     It's hard to believe that I have already been here for 1 whole month! Some mornings I wake up and and feel like I'm still dreaming, I'm so blessed to have this life be my reality. I would like to thank each and every person who has loved me, prayed for me and helped to support me. You have no idea how blessed I am by your faithfulness and God's goodness! Thank you! My arrival at Shepherd's Field on October 1st was ideal, I unknowingly came during October Holiday, which is a week long celebration of Chinese Independence, during this holiday all of our children are out of school and there is no work for local or foreign staff. Arriving during Holiday was quite nice, since it allowed me time to adjust and settle into my new home, get over my jet lag, and really reconnect with other staff members. It was especially nice to reconnect with the therapy team that I had work so closely with over the summe...

She's Determined to find a Family...and So Am I

I'm dedicating today's post to a very special little girl. A girl who loves without boundaries despite her physical limitations. A girl who's joy is printed like a map and worn on on her face. A girl who is smart, innovative, intelligent and eager to learn. A girl who is growing up fast and desperately longs for a forever family of her own. Today is about a girl named, Charissa. Charissa joined the SFCV family back in 2009, when she was just 3 and a half years old. From the start, Charissa's life was challenged, shortly after birth she was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus, Spina Bifida, posterior Meningocele and Cerebral Palsy. When she was a baby, surgeons placed a VP shunt to treat the Hydrocephalus and her Meningocele was removed. Since her surgery several years ago, Charissa has progressed wonderfully. Despite her inability to control her body from the waist down, she has become a very independent young girl with an excellent outlook on life.  Over the last 7 ye...

An Exception to the Rule

Hey All, It's that time again...time to write about one of our amazing kids here at SFCV. Typically, I've been trying to write about my patients/ the kids enrolled in our therapy program. So far it's been good and I'm very happy to say that the word is getting out about these kiddos! Today's post is an exception to the rule... this incredibly special young girl isn't in our therapy program, she's never been enrolled in our program, but she is definitely a huge part of our hearts! Amanda joined our SFCV family from Heze orphanage in February of 2014, and every since our hearts and lives have been touched by her loving and joyful heart. Amanda has Blue Bleb Nevus Syndrome (BRBNS) which is a rare condition that is characterized by numerous malformations of the venous system that primarily effects  the skin and visceral organs. This condition has caused her to have a left foot deformity as well as several of these venous abnormalities. Last summer our medica...
