So...What Now?

If I've learned anything about China in the last 4+ years it's that understanding and living in China is like holding water. The second you think you've got a good scoop on what it's like or how it's going to be, it's changed and slipped through your hands. It's always changing and flowing. It's the only way to describe this place. While it can be frustrating to some, it keeps life interesting.  Last month I shared some of the changes that have taken place here in our children's village in the last year. Change has just been one of those things you can't prevent but don't always know how to prepare for. These last few months have left a lot of us asking, "So...What now?" Shortly after the kids began returning to their home orphanages, our leadership team sat in a room, just looking at each other and asking ourselves this same question. Happy Children, Happy Life!

Howdy readers!   June 1st, we celebrated International Children's Day here at SFCV! Children's day is great day to celebrate all the little joys that God has blessed us with. When I first moved to China, I had no idea about this special holiday, since it's not regularly observed in the U.S.; however I was quickly made aware and brought up to speed on how awesome and special Children's day is. Going into the day, I was unbelievably excited and I have to admit, I think it may be one of the BEST days I've ever had in China!! We started the day with a performance  with singing, dancing, magic, and more that was organized by our Teachers and performed by our adorable kids! In the weeks leading up to Children's day I had seen the kids practicing and preparing and all of their hard work definitely paid off - I was throughly impressed by all of their tremendous talents.
