I'm an Anxious Waiter...

Howdy, Howdy, Howdy!  I've got some important things to share with you...so listen up! ;) So, I'm taking a little bit of a different twist with this post. Normally, I like to write, discuss, & talk about how awesome, amazing and blessed my China life is and how much I adore the kids and my job at SFCV. Let me reassure you, NONE of that has changed in the slightest; however it is time for me to discuss the down and dirty logistics of living the volunteer life in a foreign country...$$$. Ethan and Flynn are the two newest additions to the SFCV family! I can't wait to meet these little guys! For those of you that have served on missions trips, lived as a missionary in a foreign country, worked in missions or other volunteer positions, then all of you know the trials, up & downs of fundraising. It's hard, yet vital to the mission and call that God has for you. Well, this is currently where I am...anxiously waiting on the funds for my mission. Extending my...

Zhengzhou Adventure

Hey Friends! So tired from sprinting to the train A few weeks back 12 of our kids had traveled down to Zhengzhou for camp in Henan Province.  2 days after I had arrived back in China I had the opportunity to travel via train to pick them up and escort them home. It was a big task, but we packed up bags and bags of snacks and headed out early to get our kiddos. I usually tend to exaggerate stories a little, but I kid you not, when I say that we were RUNNING through the subway and train station...yes, running, to be more literal we were SPRINTING! Haha As uncomfortable, intense and insane as it was, we made our train to Zhengzhou with 10 minutes to spare! Zhengzhou! Arriving in a new city in China is always exciting for...

Happy Children, Happy Life!

Howdy readers!   June 1st, we celebrated International Children's Day here at SFCV! Children's day is great day to celebrate all the little joys that God has blessed us with. When I first moved to China, I had no idea about this special holiday, since it's not regularly observed in the U.S.; however I was quickly made aware and brought up to speed on how awesome and special Children's day is. Going into the day, I was unbelievably excited and I have to admit, I think it may be one of the BEST days I've ever had in China!! We started the day with a performance  with singing, dancing, magic, and more that was organized by our Teachers and performed by our adorable kids! In the weeks leading up to Children's day I had seen the kids practicing and preparing and all of their hard work definitely paid off - I was throughly impressed by all of their tremendous talents. Following a special McDonald's lunch and naps our kids and staff participated in a water ...
