More than Turkey...

"Thank you! Everything in me says “Thank you!” Angels listen as I sing my thanks. I kneel in worship facing your holy temple and say it again: “Thank you! Thank you for your love, thank you for your faithfulness;
Most holy is your name, most holy is your Word.

The moment I called out, you stepped in;
    you made my life large with strength."
Psalms 138:1-3
The Message Bible

Happy Thanksgiving y’all!
I LOVE Thanksgiving! I don’t know about you, but I think there’s something so special about the family gathered together to celebrate all that we have to be thankful for! It warms my heart! As one would assume, this year, like last I will not be spending the Thanksgiving holiday with my family…well my immediate and biological family that is. This year, like last, I am celebrating my gratefulness and thanks to God with my SFCV family. I won’t lie, it’s hard to be away from my close knit family on days like today, but I am SO blessed to have my SFCV family in my life to love me, hold me accountable and stand in the gap when my biological fam is 6, 604 miles away! This year was quite atypical in that there was no turkey to be found, yet the table was still covered with all the delish Chinese dishes we love so much.  Yes, sad, I know; however there is more to life than turkey, green bean casserole and pumpkin pie! At least the whole Fam was present, that's what matters.
Looking back on this year that I’ve spent in China, I can’t help but have this overwhelming sense of gratitude for all that God has done for me, as King David says in Psalms 138:1 "Everything in me says 'Thank you!'". Side note: I love the Message Bible! :) As I was saying... these words are ever true in my heart, the Lord has provided for my every need (financially, spiritually, mentally), gotten me through rough times, drawn me closer to Himself and given me so much love and happiness! Daily I am awed by is love and faithfulness!
Just a quick shout out to all you who support me and the amazing call that God has for me here in China. Thank you for your financial support, love and most importantly your prayers! It'd be impossible for me to this work without all of you! I truly am so blessed! Thank you!
So in the spirit of Thanksgiving....take a look at these wonderful faces...I have been blessed by each one and oh so many more that are not pictured!

Ni hao from Shepherd's Field Children's Village!!

Ni Hao from Shepherd's Field Children's Village!     It's hard to believe that I have already been here for 1 whole month! Some mornings I wake up and and feel like I'm still dreaming, I'm so blessed to have this life be my reality. I would like to thank each and every person who has loved me, prayed for me and helped to support me. You have no idea how blessed I am by your faithfulness and God's goodness! Thank you! My arrival at Shepherd's Field on October 1st was ideal, I unknowingly came during October Holiday,which is a week long celebration of Chinese Independence, during this holiday all of our children are out of school and there is no work for local or foreign staff. Arriving during Holiday was quite nice, since it allowed me time to adjust and settle into my new home, get over my jet lag, and really reconnect with other staff members. It was especially nice to reconnect with the therapy team that I had work so closely with over the summe...

Team CMYK!

Cmyk! I'd like to introduce you all to a very special little someone. Meet, Charley Moon Yingmi Kasper or Cmyk (sm-ick) as I like to call her. Charley Moon is one of the adorable bundles-of-joy that I have had the privilege of working with. As most 2 1/2 year old's are, Charley Moon is quite the character; she's a dancer, a comedian, a lover, a keeper of secrets, and an adoptee. Over the last few months I've had the honor to sit in a front seat and watch the final pieces of her adoption fall into place and I have to say that witnessing this miracle has changed my life. Charley Moon and Mommy - July 2013 I first met Charley Moon and her (now) mother, Kayla on my very first trip to China in July of 2013. When I met, Cmyk or "Leah" as she was called back then, she was just about 18months old and weighed no more than 15 pounds. When she arrived at Shepherd's Field in the spring 2012, she was struggling to maintain good nutrition and very underdeve...

The Mom Factor

Do you ever find yourself in a moment, where you're so completely and utterly grateful for everything your parents, specifically your Mother, ever did for you, all the tears she wiped, all the love she gave you? In our own ways, I think we all have these moments of gratitude. Lately, I've found myself treasuring these small tranquil moments, that have become more of a regular occurrence. Not only was I blessed to have a wonderful Mother,who loves me and gives of herself no matter the cost, but I was also blessed to have a Mother who taught me the definition of sacrifice and generosity. She has taught me so much over the years, and now that I'm an adult I've come to love, cherish and accept with gratitude all the lessons she's taught me. Folks, I know this is so cliche, but I have one of the world's greatest moms! Living and working here at Shepherd's Field, I've been blessed with a great opportunity to work with and love some amazing kids. I...
