Sid: "HellooooOO!"

Hi! I'm Sid!
Good Morning to all of you in the west and Good Night to all of you on my half of the world!

I can't wait to tell you all about this awesome kid named, Sid. Kid named, Sid! haha, it rhymes! LOL :) Sid is awesome you're all going to love him, I just know it!
Sid came to SFCV, not that long ago from a city in inner Mongolia (North China) called, Baotou. He has called SFCV home for almost 3 years, and boy are we happy to have him here! He's a ray of sunshine and can bring a smile to anyone's face.
I chose to write my first advocacy blog about Sid for two reasons: 1. He's awesome and everyone should know about him and all that he can do, plus he needs a forever family...soon! and 2. On June 1st, Sid will turn 12 years old. That means he only has 2 more years to find a forever family. In China once a child turns 14years old they can no longer be adopted. This is heartbreaking. A lot of kids with special needs that age out of the adoption system end up being institutionalized for the remainder of their life. Thankfully, here at SFCV, God has blessed us with the opportunity to start an Vocational Training School for these older kids. Our goal is to teach them life skills and practical vocations that they can use to become independent young men and women. Exciting, right?
BUBBLES!!
Ok, back to Sid. Although we at SFCV are starting this program for these older kids, our heart and goal is try and find a family for each of them, BEFORE they turn 14. If God has other plans and allows them to stay at SFCV - great, but shouldn't we try and find their families?!

Fun on the Playground!
Sid, Sid, Sid, Where to start? He's such a great kid. I know that may sound vague, but it's so true. There's so much to say about him and his awesome qualities. Sid is a big brother in his house, he's a helper to his Nannies, a lover of school, someone who is eager to learn, he loves outdoor activities and most of all he LOVES bubbles! I first met him on my second trip to China, back in the summer of 2014, he was a bit shy and didn't verbally communicate that well or that much. Over the last 2(ish) years that Sid has been enrolled in our therapy program - he has progress and developed so much! We're talking about a kid who in the beginning rarely opened his mouth to make any sounds; Now, we sometimes have to lovingly ask him to stop talking/ verbalizing! Hahaha Although he still struggles to produce sounds and he hasn't quite figured out how to form all of his words - Sid has progressed so much. He can say words and phrases in both English and Mandarin, he can and does, sign over 40 different signs. He's become a very efficient and effective communicator. Sid does have  other fine motor and developmental delays, but with therapy sessions twice a week he continues to make great progress and shatter all of his goals. He's quite the achiever.

Aside from his therapeutic progress, Sid has thrived here at SFCV and I know he'd do all that much better in with a family of his own. Sid has become a big brother to the little ones in his house. If he's not pushing a stroller or wheelchair on the walk to/ from school he's always holding someone's hand and guiding them to where they need to be. He's a joyful helper too. Always willing to clean up after others, help the nannies carry dishes or laundry. He's a responsible young man that truly cares for others.

Such a handsome young man.
One of my favorite things about Sid, aside from his charming and hilarious personality, is his stunningly handsome smile! I just can't tell you in words... When this kid smiles, there are rays of light that shine. I know this may sound so cliché but his smile really does change the atmosphere of a room - for those of you have met Sid, you know what I'm talking about. He has this way of making everyone smile without intentionally trying to. He has this abounding joy and love that is constantly radiating off of him, his warm heart and smile are a constant reminder of the unconditional love that Christ shows us everyday. Golly, I can't tell you how awesome this kid is, it's like I said before, overall he's just a great kid!

If you're thinking about adopting, or know someone who is... Sid is the man. His adoption paperwork ready and honestly, his little heart craves for a forever family of his own. He's always happy and content, yes, but still every child longs for and deserves a forever family. Let's find Sid's.

If you or someone you know has questions about Sid or would like to know more about him and his adoption status... PLEASE send me an email: naomi.preedin@chinaorphans.org

Ni hao from Shepherd's Field Children's Village!!

Ni Hao from Shepherd's Field Children's Village!     It's hard to believe that I have already been here for 1 whole month! Some mornings I wake up and and feel like I'm still dreaming, I'm so blessed to have this life be my reality. I would like to thank each and every person who has loved me, prayed for me and helped to support me. You have no idea how blessed I am by your faithfulness and God's goodness! Thank you! My arrival at Shepherd's Field on October 1st was ideal, I unknowingly came during October Holiday, which is a week long celebration of Chinese Independence, during this holiday all of our children are out of school and there is no work for local or foreign staff. Arriving during Holiday was quite nice, since it allowed me time to adjust and settle into my new home, get over my jet lag, and really reconnect with other staff members. It was especially nice to reconnect with the therapy team that I had work so closely with over the summe

Miracle Child

Howdy! I'm so excited to share this post with you today! Let me start with this question, have you ever witnessed a miracle? Have you? I think a lot of people tend to think that miracles are these MASSIVE events that draw the awe and amazement of many or we think of the miracles that are written about in the Bible. Yes, those big miracles happen, people being raised from death to life, the seas being parted, etc. It's real and it all happened and was AWESOME ! But today for some reason, maybe because we're not looking, we don't tend to see those kinds of miracles. However, everyday  of our lives God is doing miracles. Living here at SFCV, I have the privilege of having a front row seat in watching God perform those miracles on our campus, within our organization and in the lives of our kids. Simeon is an everyday miracle. Simeon arrived at SFCV in 2012, when he was just a few months old. He was born with hydrocephalus and spina bifida. When He was just 3 months old
